Mail Bag: Follow up letter to Deal Hudson

In our last letter, we wrote our friend Deal Hudson. He never replied. We are hurt.
He did make this post on October 8th that still has us scratching our heads. Read here.

So we try again – just a short note today.

Dear Deal,

In your blog posting of October 8th, you assert that “Global Warming is a Natural, not Man-Made, Phenomenon.”

Now we understand that Neo Conservatives such as you are unable at times to separate the politics of issues from the facts. Al Gore is a politician. So let us put him aside.

What has us scratching our heads is that the “Vatican” has stated Climate change is an international concern, and Catholics have a moral imperative to protect environment.

In a Sept. 24 statement to the U.N. General Assembly session on climate change entitled “The future is in our hands: Addressing the leadership challenge of climate change,” Msgr. Piero Parolin, Vatican undersecretary for relations with states, stressed that, despite various interpretations, the “best scientific assessments” have established a clear link between human activity and global warming, which requires the adoption of a “coordinated, effective and prompt international political strategy.”

So we are curious. Deal you have presented yourself as an authority of Catholicism and Catholic issues. You advise very powerful men and women on Catholic issues. So we are wondering how you are reconciling your obvious difference with the Vatican on Climate Change?

Blessings,

Eamon
