The Church teaches that poverty is a not a disgrace and no one should be ashamed because of the labor performed. True dignity is established not by wealth accumulated, but rather by virtue obtained, equitably available to all classes of people., whether poor or rich. God seems to incline more toward the unfortunate since Jesus called the poor to be blessed, embracing with special love the lowly and those harassed by injustice. We should reflect on those things which unite us. All people share in commonality, since all people have equally redeemed the blood of Christ. (RN 37, 38)
